EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY

I believe students have the right to learn in a positive environment which fosters the growth of thought, individualism, academics, emotional strength and social potential. I teach to students strengths and learning preferences by understanding the diverse needs and interests. I provide students with the tools and strategies required for varied learning opportunities and to develop and utilize their critical thought processes.

Students are actively involved in the assessment process (self assessment, reflective practice, responding to meaningful and purposeful assessment feedback orb more when the learning is relevant, meaningful, purposeful and connected to their world. It is imperative to help students strive for betterment within themselves while understanding and attaining their goals.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

I received my Bachelor’s Degree form the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee. I spent a semester abroad in the Romance Language Study program before receiving my teacher education degree from Canisius College in Buffalo, New York. I am a certified teacher with the Ontario College of Teachers as well as Alberta College of Teachers.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been in the teaching profession for over ten years. I have taught a variety of grades and subjects with diversity in learning and critical thinking at the Elementary level. I have been involved with private tutoring for many years with companies as well as private.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

I have led various Professional Development for teachers with technology. I have run after school numeracy programs and cross curricular technology integration. I led a Anti-Bullying “Peacemaker” program. A parent/School community night with students for support in learning and communication called F.A.S.T., Roots of Empathy Program, Character Education Program, Tribes Community of Learners to name a few.
