EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY

I believe that all students have the right to learn, should be valued as individuals, can be motivated to become active learners, and have an innate need to belong. It is essential to provide a safe, reciprocal learning community. One that is culturally responsive, free of criticism, and that promotes creative resources to support the learning and behavior of the individual student.

Instructors modeling tolerance and acceptance for students will set a positive atmosphere for the entire class, and empower students with a sense of belonging and clarity in an environment that has clearly defined roles for learning, playing, and participating. This should also be an environment that considers the needs of all learners, but has the same high expectations for their success as well.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

I received my Bachelor’s Degree in English and Writing from Oregon State University. I then went on to receive my Master’s Degree in Teaching and Learning with Technology.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Since 2010, I have worked as an academic tutor for college students, helping them to achieve their dreams. I have tutored students in academic writing, regardless of their major (English, Psychology, Social Science, etc.), as well as specifically in English Literature and Computer Applications.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

I spend a lot of my free time writing fiction, both novels and short stories, as well as reading, making jewelry, teaching jewelry making techniques, and playing a variety of board games and video games.
