EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY

I believe that all students have the right and will to learn once they are given the correct tools and techniques to fit their own learning style. Every student learns in his/her own way and it is my job as an educator to find the right tools to help them succeed.

In teaching, I strive to utilize the Common Core Standards to help students get a better understanding of basic academic skills to help them be successful in the 21st century. The children are our future and it is my job to make their academic careers as successful and enjoyable as possible!

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

I attend Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education with an area of concentration in Special Education. I also graduated from Onaga High School in Onaga, KS as a member of the National Honors Society. Members of this society have to maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have a wide variety of experiences when it comes to education. In college I dual student taught which means I taught for 8 weeks in a 3rd grade general education room and 8 weeks in a 4th grade special education room. I then went on to become a paraprofessional in an Autism classroom and later that year took on a long term substitute teaching position in a 1st grade classroom.

I then went on to acquire my own 4th grade classroom where I taught a wide range of students with various academic learning styles. I was blessed with receiving a higher number of students with different learning disabilities, primarily Autism.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

While I was teaching I helped organize a number of extracurricular activities for my students to participate in. I was actively involved in a Multiplication Club after school to help students with their multiplication tables. I also helped organize an activity called Bal-A-Vis-X which helped students with focus and concentration skills using racquet balls to do different rhythmic tasks.
