About Me

SUBJECTS

EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY

All people need to have a solid background in Biology in order to continually advance society. My teaching philosophy is that students learn best when they want to learn, and when the subject matter connects to them personally. Luckily, biology by nature presents a connection to each individual, because it is the study of life.

My goal is to provide all of my students with a safe, comfortable educational environment in which they can gain a true appreciation of the subject of biology. It is my hope that they will transition this appreciation into a will to learn, and use their education to make informed decisions in their lives.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

I am currently in my final year of earning a Masters of Arts degree in Teaching from California University of Pennsylvania.

I graduated from high school with honors and a GPA of 4.12. I also graduated from Pennsylvania State University with distinction in both of my majors, and an overall GPA of 3.71. Currently, I have a GPA of 3.704 in my Masters program, with one semester left to complete.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have completed 48 hours of observation in secondary classrooms, and will begin student teaching in the spring of 2015. Throughout my high school and college career, I completed numerous hours of informal tutoring in the sciences.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Throughout my college career, I was a member of the PreVet club, and have since then been highly involved in many outdoor activities, such as fishing, skiing, kayaking, and hunting.

STANDARDIZED TEST RESULTS

I received scores of 183 and 181 in the Praxis II Biology and Praxis II General Science exams, respectively. These scores are out of a possible 200.
