Bexley District and Curriculum
Bexley City Schools is the only public school district in Bexley. Students in the district attend one of five schools, each of which has been honored for being among the best in the state of Ohio. Teachers, students, parents, and community members alike share in this commitment to academic excellence. Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Bexley District Curriculum
The Bexley math curriculum begins in kindergarten where children learn very basic mathematical skills and concepts. This includes learning the names of numbers as well as their sequence. From there, first graders learn the concepts of addition and subtraction. Place value is part of the second grade learning sequence, while in third grade, students get involved with multiplication and division. Once kids reach fourth grade, students gain an understanding of lines, angles, and shapes as part of a basic geometry lesson. By grade five, children have the ability to write and interpret expressions and analyze mathematical patterns.
Part of Bexley’s high school science curriculum includes an in-depth study of physical science. Within that subject area, students learn how to classify matter in terms of their properties and states. Learners explore atoms as well, developing an understanding of their structure and learning how to model them. Students also learn about periodic law and chemical reactions.

Studies show that age children grow into adults and reach old age, the more they read the sharper their mind is. This includes both the ability to process information quickly and retain information.
