Bismarck District and Curriculum

The Bismarck Public School system has established the broad mission statement “all students will learn” to encourage students to master an expansive and comprehensive set of skills. The vision for Bismarck students is to transition between educational stages while acquiring necessary skills for success in order to graduate in a timely manner. This curriculum is administered in a manner by which teaching staff curate relevant information and resources, in a grade-appropriate manner, which are posted online for easy inspection and use by students. Students are then evaluated through a series of standardized tests designed to assess specific subjects.

We currently cover the following Bismarck-area school districts: Bismarck Public Schools.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Bismarck District Curriculum

The Science curriculum for Bismarck students is focused on integrating science and technology concepts to prepare
students for confronting technical real world problems. Students are expected to work in groups and participate in
hands-on projects. Bismarck students are also encouraged to participate in events at Gateway to Science, a local
resource that provides hands-on learning to students of all grade levels.

The program “Connecting Cultures and Classrooms” is utilized by all Bismarck schools across the disciplines of science,
social studies, and language arts. This program aims to teach students basic principles of each discipline while communicating
information about the local Native American heritage. Students are expected to develop understanding of diverse cultures and
their relevance to society. The Language Arts and Reading curriculum is further dedicated to early literacy development and
consistent reading progression. The Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS) are a set of standardized individual
tests administered throughout each school year. These short tests are designed to monitor students’ early reading and language skills.
