Chalk Talk: Packing for School

Packing to prepare youngsters for each school day can be a challenge for parents. First, they have to make sure all of their child's folders (with their homework inside!), notebooks, textbooks, and writing utensils are in their backpack. For young children, it would be a good idea for parents to pack an extra set of clothes for children to keep in their lockers in case of an accident. Another thing parents need to be aware of is which "special" students have the next school day. For example, if it is library day, it is important that students remember to bring back library books. Starting in middle school and sometimes earlier, students will be required to bring a change of clothes (athletic apparel). It is important for students to remember to bring their gym clothes athletic shoes as well if they are not already wearing them.
