Bolingbrook District and Curriculum

In Bolingbrook, students attend schools in the Plainfield Consolidated School District #202. The district is the fourth largest in Illinois with 30 schools serving students in preschool through high school. District #202 is one of the fastest growing in Illinois. The goal of the district is to provide an education that encourages students to become successful adults who contribute their unique talents to their community. The district also encourages the students to embrace the continual change in society so they will also embrace the idea of being life-long learners.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Bolingbrook District Curriculum

Plainfield Consolidated School District #202 designs learning goals for each grade level. The goals are designed with the Common Core Curriculum State Standards in mind and they cover all of the curriculum aspects from math and language arts to science and fine arts. The district also employs an accelerated curriculum at all levels.

High school students in Bolingbrook can choose from a variety of different courses taught by experienced teachers. Students who take Advanced Placement or career related classes can take the tests to earn college credit. At the elementary level, teachers use a curriculum called Balanced Literacy for children who have difficulty reading. This curriculum program involves students working in small groups with their teacher to develop reading success. Teachers are specially trained to implement this curriculum in their classes.

Keeping Informed: Recent Bolingbrook Educational News

  • Physically Fit - The Fuel Up to Play 60 awarded a District 202 middle school a $3,000 grant. The school will use the grant to improve their intramural program so students can more involved in physical fitness activities. They will also use the money to purchase food for tasting events.
  • Art Scholars - Plainfield District art students were select to have their pieces in the Joliet Junior College art exhibit. Some of them were given awards of excellence, too. Students from over 20 high schools submitted art pieces for this prestigious art exhibition.
  • School Nutrition - All of the schools in the Bolingbrook area and in District 202 will be serving breakfast. Breakfast will be available for any student who wishes to participate in the program; it's also a great way to get students in school early and prepared for the day.
