Chalk Talk: Get Involved with Your Student

At an early age, students are aware of their parents priorities based on their actions. You can help your student feel valued and be excited to succeed if you yourself model positive attitudes toward education and your child’s schooling. Schools are always looking for volunteers for a range of activities inside of school hours and out. Another way you can show your child that learning is important is to find something you are curious about and let your child research it with you. Ever wanted to change the oil in your car or figure out how to knit a scarf? A simple internet search will yield plenty of instructions. It will also let your child see you motivated to learn and observe how you handle frustrations and setbacks, eventually helping them develop a desire to be proactive about satisfying their own innate curiosity.
