Brentwood District and Curriculum

The Districts of Brentwood use a curriculum that provides a standards-based approach to teaching and learning. The curriculum lays out the expected outcomes for students within each subject at each grade and instruction and assessment is aligned to those expectations. The Common Core Standards are used for the subjects of English/Language Arts and Math; the curriculum describes the broad areas of learning and then details the skills and knowledge integral to these areas.

We currently cover the following Brentwood-area school district: Brentwood Union School District, Liberty Union High School District.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Brentwood District Curriculum

In Math, students are instructed in numerical operations, algebraic operations, geometry and measurement, and statistics and probability each year. Students deepen their knowledge and expand their problem-solving and mathematical reasoning skills.

In English/Language Arts, the subject is organized around reading literary and informational texts, writing and revising processes, listening, and speaking. These areas helps to develop critical thinking, interpretative and analytic skills in students.

In specialized programs like Advanced Placement, Technology-oriented Program, and other career-related program options, the curriculum lays out the expectations for learning and explains how other learning areas will be covered within the courses and how they connect to the world.
