Chalk Talk: The Importance of Social Development

Parents must be concerned about the academic, social and emotional development of their learner. Academic success is important, but the emotional and social development of a student is just as important. Students must be able to manage their emotions in this ever-changing society. Educational institutions aspire to prepare students to succeed academically. Standardized test assess the core content knowledge that learners obtain. Students must successfully manage stress, disappointment and rejection. Self-confidence must be projected in the boardroom as well as content knowledge. Self-awareness and self-esteem are just as important as accelerated academic knowledge.
