Campbell District and Curriculum

K-12 students in Campbell attend classes in Campbell City Schools. The district is relatively small, having just two school buildings. The small size of the district facilitates the development of quality teaching and learning relationships between teachers and students. Children receive increased individualized attention because of small class sizes and a small overall district population. Each child’s individual needs are met, and their unique interests are fostered through engaging lesson planning. Students take part in rigorous learning activities that promote the development of essential knowledge and skills in a variety of subject areas.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Campbell District Curriculum

The elementary English language arts curriculum in Campbell focuses on helping students develop critical reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. Students learn proper subject-verb and pronoun-antecedent agreement. They also work on recognition of sentence fragments and run-on sentences and devise methods to correct such errors. Learners develop the ability to choose words and phrases that provide impact and effect in their speaking and writing. Using the proper forms of words is emphasized as well, including too/to/two and there/they’re/their.

Campbell students learn about financial literacy as well. Risk management and insurance are primary topics. Students learn about the necessity of insurance in order to protect against potential loss. Various forms of insurance are introduced, including health, life, homeowner’s, and automobile insurance. Credit and debt are important topics as well. Learners explore how having an appropriate relationship between credit and debt can lead to long-term financial success. Chalk Talk: How to Choose a Tutor

Choosing a private tutor involves weighing a number of different factors. First, prospective tutors need to be friendly and approachable. Sometimes a child’s poor performance in school is the result of being fearful of making mistakes or asking questions. An approachable tutor will set your child’s mind at ease and foster the development of a strong working relationship. Second, tutors need to have the content-specific knowledge required for tutoring a particular subject as well as the ability to make learning that subject fun. A person with exceptional understanding of science, but little understanding of how to make learning that subject engaging and interesting would not make a good tutor. Instead, try to find a tutor that balances their deep knowledge of the subject with an ability to bring that subject to life for your child. Lastly, your child’s tutor needs to be well versed in record keeping and communication. You need to be apprised of your child’s performance and that starts and stops with a tutor that can demonstrate exactly how your child has improved as a result of his or her assistance.
