Chalk Talk: Creative Educational Resources

Most teachers design their lesson plans according to fostering certain learning objectives and helping students to acquire important skills such as critical thinking, creativity or logic. Because there are time constraints often, teachers use textbooks and ready-made materials rather than designing their own custom made resources such as flash cards, quizzes and toys. There are advantages and disadvantages to both. However, students enjoy being challenged with more advanced material from time to time and they rather see a teacher that thrives on creativity and one who inspires his or her students to be creative themselves. One solution is to design a personalized toolkit or learning kit for students of all ages of custom made resources from flash cards to crosswords and mini-quizzes so that learning can be made fun and enjoyable. This unique toolkit does not need to take a long time but it does need to consider the age-appropriate level and type of skills that the child is trying to learn.
