Chelsea District and Curriculum

We currently cover the following Chelsea-area school district: Shelby County Schools.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Chelsea District Curriculum

Shelby County School System has a core curriculum of Mathematics, Social Sciences, English, Writing, and Science. In addition to these basic courses, this school system provides a great opportunity for children to explore other subject areas, such as the Fine Arts. Students can choose drama, band, chorus, visual arts, and much more. Beginning in the middle school grades, the student will have these exploratory
options.

Core academics continue in high school with deeper analysis applied to all subjects. Similarly with electives such as Music in sixth through
twelfth grades, choral music is taught via the process of emotions with sounds and the correct methods to emote the emotions needed to be
successful. In Shelby County, electives are offered to promote the students’ development of higher order knowledge. Upon high school
graduation, the choral student will learn about advanced topics like pitch and voice capacity.

Chalk Talk: Opportunity in a Large School System

Larger school systems provide more educators and many opportunities for students to succeed. Opportunities for students are plentiful, and every pupil should become involved in supplementary courses, as well as after-school organizations. Attending a large school system can seem overwhelming at times, but when students find their niche and get involved, they can become well-rounded individuals who are prepared for their academic and professional future pursuits.
