The Science curriculum at Cookeville Schools includes the study of biology. This includes the study of plant and animal life. When the students enter high school they also find a variety of classroom animals to help with classification and observation of different types of animals and their adaptations. Keeping Informed: Recent Cookeville Educational News
- Speech and Debate Club - Speech and Debate introduces students to the world of public speaking. Students participate in competitions, either as a team or alone. They have several areas of which to choose, such as Lincoln-Douglas Debates, extemporaneous speaking and other events.
- FFA Organization - FFA, or Future Farmers of America, is open for students that are in the Agriculture program. The members share the knowledge and skills they have with each other. Experts in the field also come to meetings to share their knowledge to help each member have success in fulfilling their dreams. The members also are encouraged to participate in competitions.
- National Honor Society - The National Honor Society is organized to honor students that have shown excellence in character, leadership, service and academics. Once students are chosen and inducted into the society they are expected to demonstrate each of these traits throughout their lives in and outside of school. Included in membership is participation in service opportunities.

When the child comes home, they need to come to a place that allows them to get a good rest before tests and they need to have a healthy diet and find ways to exercise. In addition, to help build confidence, parents can help the child see their progress over time. This helps alleviate some of the anxiety from each individual test. Parents can also keep the lines of communication open with the teachers to see if there are other ways to assist the child. Most of all, parents need to talk with the child to allow them to work out their concerns and to give them encouragement and love.
