Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Corrales District Curriculum

In Mathematics, students focus in on gaining full proficiency in a limited number of core math subjects including computational skills, algebra, geometry, statistics, probability, measurement and proportional reasoning. The goal for students is that they will be mathematically literate by the time they graduate high school and have the skills they need for the workforce and for higher education.

In English and Language Arts (ELA) students learn to read, write, listen and speak using correct English. The curriculum encourages the development of critical reasoning and the evaluation of source material. Students become familiar with both informational text and literature and can apply what they have read to their writing and to improving their reading comprehension. The coursework is progressive with the complexity level for reading and writing increasing each year as students build on their language, communication and writing skills.
