Chalk Talk: Multiple Intelligences Theory: Mathematical/Logical Intelligence

Howard Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences Theory was brought to light in the 1980s and shifted many viewpoints on the traditional idea of intelligences. Viewing intelligence as a variety of categories rather than one single general entity, Gardner chose 7 intelligences to meet his original criterion and later added 2 more intelligences to his list. The original seven include verbal/linguistic, mathematical/logical, spatial/visual, musical, kinesthetic, intrapersonal, and interpersonal. Spiritual and naturalist were later added to the original list. Mathematical/Logical Intelligence uses numbers, math, and logic to understand patterns in the world. Potential career paths for these learners include accountant, computer programmer, engineer, and scientist. Do you have a love for numbers and math? If so, you might just have a strong logical/mathematical intelligence.
