Chalk Talk: AP Classes Offer Many Benefits

If your child attends a school that offers Advanced Placement (AP) classes, they present a real opportunity for your child to advance their studies. AP courses offer more challenging coursework that is in line with the rigors and expectations of college level work. As a result, students that complete AP courses have enhanced academic skills that will benefit them in college. Many institutions of higher learning accept AP courses for credit as well. If your child scores high enough on their AP exams, this could translate into a semester or years’ worth of credits before they even graduate from high school. Exploring AP classes also gives students earlier insight into academic areas they might want to study in college. Additionally, college admissions offers tend to be impressed by a high school student that challenges him or herself academically. Taking AP courses will provide these challenges for your child.
