East Haven District and Curriculum
The East Haven curriculum does follow the Connecticut Common Core State standards which strive to create students that are ready to meet the demands of not only higher education but the workforce as well. They seek to develop the entire student from academics, to social and moral attributes, to positive self-outlooks. The Common Core of Learning in all core subject areas from K – 12 are implemented through the objectives teachers use in their lessons.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the East Haven District Curriculum
The curriculum standards, which have been adopted by many districts across the country, redefines the way students are taught. There is a focus on increasing literacy by not only providing in depth, critical thinking in language arts, but also improving speaking and listening skills so that students will have the skills to compete in the work force and college. Mathematics and Science challenges students while at the same time allowing time for students to get an in-depth understanding. The curriculum is student learning focused and aims to encourage self-motivation to create active learners.

Engineering and technology are incorporated with hands-on learning opportunities that allows students to develop the problem solving, and critical thinking skills that are essential for their future success, no matter what field they end up in in the future.

There are, after all, no parent teacher conferences at a university. While you should always be your child’s biggest cheerleader and source of love and support, teaching them to stand on their own two feet and deal with life challenges, will make them strong, self-assured adults.
