Chalk Talk: Multiple Intelligences

Think there may be more than one way to understand intelligence? You are not alone! Departing from traditional views on intelligence and IQ testing, Howard Gardner surmises that intelligence areas may include linguistic/verbal, spatial, mathematical, visual, interpersonal, intrapersonal, musical, kinesthetic, naturalist, and spiritual. He understood the infinite combinations that these different intelligence centers promoted in each individual. He even proposes that there may be even more areas than those he describes. The next time you don’t seem to fit into the traditional form of intelligence, think about Gardner and see if you can find your strengths in one or more of the multiple intelligences theory!
