Chalk Talk: Doing Well on the SAT Subject Tests

If your child is planning to take one or more SAT subject tests, there are several tips they should keep in mind. First, encourage them to take the tests when the subject area content is still at the forefront of their mind, such as shortly after they complete the course. This is a good course of action for world history, chemistry and biology. Second, if the language test is on your child’s agenda, the test shouldn’t be taken until after they have completed several years of study in the language. In fact, it might be best if your child has taken all available levels of the language class offered at their school before attempting the SAT language test. Lastly, have your child take the practice exams for the SAT subject tests. Doing so will familiarize your child with the layout of the exam as well as the structure and difficulty of the questions.
