Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Fulton District Curriculum

In English and Language Arts, students learn to read, write, in addition to developing skills in listening for information and speaking. The curriculum for English includes reading both literature and informational text even at the earliest grades. The program is progressive with the complexity levels rising with each grade level. The expectation for students is that they will be able to demonstrate reading comprehension, decoding and analysis, and writing skills by both writing and talking about their reading assignments.

In Math, students focus in on a limited number of math subjects such as computation, geometry, algebra, statistics, and probability. These topics are studied intensively with each grade level building on the skills learned in the previous year. Students are expected to be mathematically literate and proficient by the time they graduate high school and be able to apply their math skills in the work world.
