In Gadsden City Schools, every student must be able to understand many types of literature, both fiction and nonfiction. The Language Arts curriculum requires the students to be successful in comprehending non-fiction text during courses in all subject areas, but at the same time necessitating an increased understanding and appreciation of the literary works that are required for them to study. The ability to show a natural appreciation for reading, for pleasure as well as for the acquisition of knowledge, will ensure success for all.

Scientific understanding for all Alabama students is the ambition of Gadsden City School’s science program at every grade level. To assist in this objective, the new Alabama Course of Study: Science (Bulletin 2005, No. 20) is applied in each science classroom. This accredited curriculum is a solid source and details a more demanding, hands-on approach to teaching elementary and secondary science concepts.
