In English and Language Arts, students learn from the earliest grades to read materials both fiction and nonfiction and use critical analysis skills to evaluate the reading. The basic strands in the Common Core Curriculum include reading, writing, and speaking and listening in a way that demonstrates control of the English language. Students should learn how to write evidence-based documents that back up their point of view, combines previous and new knowledge, and applies what they have learned to the real world.

In Math, students learn in a progressive stair stepping manner, with increasing complexity. Students in elementary school learn numbers, basic computation, and measurement while middle and high school students add on the study of statistics, probability, with an intensive focus on mathematical modeling and real-world applications.
