Glenpool District and Curriculum
Glenpool Public School instructors are guided by the curriculum guide developed by the Oklahoma State Education Department. The school system instructs the core curriculum of English Language Arts and Mathematics, and includes the teaching of Indian Education within the core subjects, as well as integrating them with History and Science classes.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Glenpool District Curriculum
In Mathematics, fractions are introduced to the math students in the primary grades. Fractions explain the relationship of part-to-whole to the students, and the instructors begin teaching this concept very gradually. The teachers rely on manipulatives and shaded diagrams to instruct the students about fractions, and also use various technologies, such as the Smartboard or any fraction-demonstrating software, or devices such as iPads or iPods.
In English Language Arts, standards taught include the writing process. The students are taught, when beginning a writing piece, to list topics they are interested in writing about. They are instructed to go about organizing their thoughts by deciding on a specific topic and making an outline of what they plan to write in their paper. From this point, the young writers then begin their rough draft, sharing it with their instructor and peers, revising this draft, editing and proofreading this draft, and then rewriting it or typing it.

Keeping Informed: Recent Glenpool Educational News
- Glenpool Community Dinner - The Glenpool Schools recently had an Indian Education Victory Dinner for the community. The students of the school system, parents, teachers, and other community members had a pot luck dinner in honor of the award received for winning the Muscogee Nation Challenge Bowl. This competition tests their knowledge of the history of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, their culture, events and their language. The students won all three rounds!
- Fitness Camp - This summer, many students enjoyed the benefits of being fit during the summer-long fitness camp. Glenpool students attended the camp, and learned the many ways to become healthy and in shape. Learning proper exercise techniques was the focus of this camp, and it was held at the Glenpool High School stadium. The camp was offered to children in grades 4-8 to get them an early start in fitness and to enable them to develop lifelong exercise habits.
- Indian Education Programs - The Indian Education Programs at Glenpool Public Schools provide the students and community members many opportunities to be involved in activities that focus on Indian Education. The Parental Involvement group meets every six weeks and they discuss various ways to incorporate children and family members in Indian Education. Indian Education is important in Glenpool Public Schools.
