The science curriculum in Granville begins in elementary school where students build the foundational knowledge they need in order to undertake more advanced studies in middle school and high school. The advanced science courses in high school include physical science. Matter is a central subject of investigation. Students learn about what constitutes matter, as well as the various forms it can take. The building blocks of matter are explored as well. Learners also examine atoms, bonds, and compounds.

Chalk Talk: Alternative Education Programs Benefit Students

A traditional school setting is not always an optimal environment for student learning. Many public schools offer alternative settings in which students can achieve their potential. Sometimes this involves online learning, being homeschooled, or attending a specialized charter or magnet school. Whatever the case, these options have many benefits to offer students. Online learning and homeschooling both give students a lot of flexibility in terms of when they study. This can be especially beneficial for children that are struggling with an illness or have other family responsibilities. Charter schools offer students the chance to study particular subjects in depth, such as the sciences, humanities, or the arts. Other schools provide a more regimented learning environment that helps students stay on task and behave themselves. Having choices such as these is critical for students who need to have an alternative environment in order to finish their K-12 education.
