Chalk Talk: ACT Test Tips

Taking the ACT test can be extremely stressful given how important the scores can be in determining admission to colleges and universities. When the big day comes, consider these tips for improving your performance. First, eat a good meal before the test. Even if you feel too nervous to eat, make yourself eat something. Your brain needs fuel for the test and food is the way to provide that. Second, once you begin the test, read the directions and each question very carefully. If necessary, read them multiple times to ensure you understand what is being asked of you. Doing so will help you avoid silly mistakes. Lastly, answer the easy questions first, then go back and address the more difficult questions. Don’t dwell on a difficult question! This will help you pace yourself and avoid having a lot of unanswered questions at the end of a section.
