Chalk Talk: Preparing for a New School Year

Depending on the grade level and the teacher, or teachers, requirements, there are both basics and then individual items to get for a child to prepare for the school year. Spiral-bound or composition notebooks are often required as well. You should probably buy loose-leaf paper as well but find out if there is a particular variety the teacher prefers, i.e. wide-ruled or college-ruled. Folders and/or binders are another essential to buy. You may need to buy a large one for all classes or one for each class. Finally, keep in mind that many students need to be able to fit what they need for the day or class in their desk. Considering the amount of space that will be needed to hold the supplies when shopping is a good idea. Once all that is done, it's time for the child to personalize their selections and organize them so they are easy to access.
