Chalk Talk: Why Technology Is Necessary in the Classroom

In today’s highly technological world, it is essential for teachers to adopt the latest technologies to drive and deliver their curriculum. Students today are plugged in, and teachers can use that to their advantage. Exploring topics using the Internet, apps, and other technological tools helps make learning interesting, engaging, and fun. This kind of active participation helps students retain the information they learn and increases their ability to apply that learning to everyday life. Another benefit of technology is that it expands the time and space in which children learn. Rather than being constrained by the bounds of their class period, students can use laptops, tablets, or smartphones to access e-textbooks, online tutorials, podcasts, and the like, and learn from home whenever they see fit. As the workplace becomes more and more reliant on technology, students need to be introduced to using technological tools in a responsible and sensible manner. Incorporating technology into the classroom affords students the chance to do so.
