Largo District and Curriculum

In elementary school, teachers give students a good foundation in reading through practicing reading words, reading aloud, reading together, reading with the teacher, and reading independently. These practices build prowess in phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Elementary students gain experience in writing by having a set time every day to receive instruction from the teacher, write quietly, and share writings with the class. In middle and high school, students further their knowledge of language arts by reading, writing, communicating orally, listening to others, viewing demonstrations and examples, and thinking critically about a broad selection of literature and writing styles.

We currently cover the following Largo-area school districts: Pinellas County Public Schools.

Chalk Talk: How to Build a Strong Relationship with Your Student's Teacher

Educating your student is a partnership between you and the teacher so having a good relationship with a teacher is vital. Exchange contact information with the teacher and let him or her know that they may contact you about anything at any time. Tell the teacher about your student: interests, dislikes, special needs, or anything that will help the teacher get to know the student. Be involved in as many school events as possible. Donate classroom supplies. Tell the teacher what the student has been saying about school. Send cards. Say, "Thank you." Give the teacher respect. Give good reports of the teacher to school administrators. By building a good relationship with teachers, you are supporting the school, the classroom environment, and your childs' education.
