In Math, student learning is centered on developing basic operational and procedural skills which prepare students for increasingly complex topics in secondary school. There is also a focus on mathematic literacy and the development of reasoning and communication of mathematic information. The Principles or Foundations of Math course offered to students in grade 9 lays a foundation for working with advanced topics in algebra, geometry, statistics, and trigonometry.

In business classes, students study topics such as laws dealing with employment. Students describe the components of an employment contract and identify legal rights of employees, such as child labor laws and the right to work in a non-hostile environment. Void and voidable agreements are studied as well, with students identifying illegal types of agreements. Various crimes relating to business are explored, including theft, bribery, fraud, and embezzlement. An analysis of tort law is undertaken as well. Students identify the four elements of a tort, including causation, breach of duty, injury, and duty to do or not do something. Learners also devise an appreciation for the difference between liability and negligence as it pertains to the business world.
