Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Lima District Curriculum
During the early years, Language Arts focuses on reading and literature, informational text and foundational concepts of key ideas and details, structure, integration of knowledge and ideas, range of reading and text level complexity, print concepts, phonological awareness, word recognition, and fluency. The Science curriculum include units on basic needs and resources, biomes, life cycles, classification, food webs, senses, body organs, cells, and nutrition.
In high school, Math includes algebraic functions, geometry and various functions and theories that challenge students to achieve advanced problem solving related to their daily world. The Science curriculum includes subjects such as physics, chemistry, biology, the environment, astronomy and geology. Social Studies teaches students about valuable facts and concepts in areas such as American history, Psychology, Sociology, Government, Economics and Finance.

- The Arts Centre School of Music and Dance - Three programs offered at this school are Early Childhood Dance Program, Classic Dance Program, and the Performance Dance Company Program. This school believes in nurturing the cognitive physical, emotional and social needs of each child while helping them to enjoy the arts and deliver performances with creative self-expression, balance, confidence and grace. The Arts Centre offers many different programs for children from the ages of 1 1/2 to 7 and up in jazz, tap and ballet, pointe, modern dance, and hip hop. Teens and Seniors can also join in on the fun too.
- Lima Means Business - The Ohio State University at Lima has formed a collaboration with the Ohio State Fisher College of Business to offer an internationally-accredited undergraduate four year degree in business to Lima. Students will have options to pursue prestigious careers in business in marketing, human resources, finance and accounting which will open many doors to success. This program hopes to offer internships and other opportunities for students in the private and public sector as well as non-profit.
- Monsters University - There are some great educational and fun movies for children out there that feature heroes, funny characters even monsters. Man of Steel 3D is a great pick for children who have a passion for Superman. Monsters University is not only about monsters in university but about overcoming obstacles with a tough, competitive spirit and learning to work together when the situation calls for discipline and hard work.

Playing music calms the mind and gives us harmony helping us to adjust to the finely blended synchronous melody of sounds that are played together in perfect rhythm. There is something very moving about a singer singing while playing the piano and making it all blend together in complete harmony. There is also something very beautiful and enticing about one who sings opera and reaches the most highest sound for the longest time. Playing an instrument and learning how to master it is really a matter of passion but discipline but also taking control of that tool or instrument in your hands to make it sound exactly like the notes dictate. We can better understand the relationship of the music to our environment. When we learn how to play an instrument we actually not only make music but we can feel the music.
