Lincoln District Curriculum Used in Our In-Home Tutoring Programs

The curriculum in Lincoln’s schools is designed to cover traditional and elective subject learning over the entire grade span. During the elementary years students are introduced to all subjects, literacy and numeracy fundamentals are emphasized, and opportunities to explore and investigate are provided. Students develop rudimentary skills in Math, Science, Reading, and Writing during these years. Both districts in Lincoln pride themselves on providing opportunities for students to advance both their academic knowledge and gain personal and professional skills that prepare them for college and career. With numerous academic and extracurricular programs available, students in Lincoln have many opportunities to learn and grow.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Lincoln District Curriculum

During the intermediate years, instruction is designed to compound the fundamentals and begins to expose students to more advanced areas of learning within the subjects. There is an increased focus on social learning and character development, as these years are central to an individuals' social and emotional development. During grades 7 and 8, students are prepared for the transition to high school and become aware of the increased expectations and academic opportunities available.

When students enter high school, the curriculum remains emphasized on traditional subject learning. Courses are offered in an Academic or an Applied format, emphasizing theoretical or practical aspects of the subject, respectively. An extensive range of enhanced learning experiences also exist for high schoolers in the Cooperative Education Program, International Learning, or Advanced Placement programs. All these help students find the pathway they consider most engaging and embark on their future journey.
