Lincolnshire District and Curriculum

Lincolnshire-Prairie View School District and Adlai E. Stevenson High School District follow the Illinois Learning Standards which provides a continuous course of learning in all academic subjects from elementary through secondary school. This goal is achieved by delivering quality classroom learning experiences that foster the development of academic, social and career skills children need to become well-rounded adults. With this in mind, the curriculum has been designed to focus on core subjects such as Math, Science, and English. The Mathematics, Science and ELA programs adhere to State’s Core Standards requirements.

We currently cover the following Lincolnshire-area school district: Lincolnshire-Prairie View School District 103 and Adlai E. Stevenson High School District 125.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Lincolnshire District Curriculum

The schools offer a challenging curriculum with clearly communicated expectations. Teachers are given the freedom to tailor their lessons to meet the individual needs of students. The curriculum gives students the learning and skills they will need for college and/or career. The hope is that students will take responsibility for their own learning and become self-guided learners, not just in high school, but for the rest of their lives.

Both districts also strive to instill a strong work ethic in each student that will lead them to success. Students are encouraged to develop positive social skills, which are also modeled for them, and to develop higher-order thinking skills and problem-solving skills to foster a greater development of their minds. The school also provides many extracurricular activities to broaden student experience and interests, including community service.

Chalk Talk: Rolling Applications

Rolling applications are unrestricted, nonbinding college applications without a set due-date. Usually, a college opens submissions for Rolling Applications in the late summer and closes them in the late winter or early spring. At any point during that time, students are free to apply. One of the main benefits of Rolling Applications is that they tend to respond very quickly, usually within two to three weeks, whereas with other application types, colleges usually wait until the deadline passes before making a decision. This can help substantially with financial planning and other considerations about the transition from high school to college. Also, Rolling Applications lack the restrictions of some other application types, which can be a real benefit to students.
