Chalk Talk: Making the Grade

Often, students study hard to get better than average grades. In Ohio, the grade value is set at high standards. How do the expectations we have of our students challenge them to study more efficiently to get into college and prepare for a high paying career? What does work is changing study strategies and managing one's time so that students are studying more efficiently and are understanding the material. Moreover, the content studied should allow students to be able to master the practicality of it. It is not about making the grade but doing your best, understanding and applying what you have learned and then taking that information to applying it in the community. Where and how the students intends to apply the material is up to the student but needs to be encouraged by skilled educators with a passion for teaching and nurturing learning. And learning is not always done in the classroom, but through meaningful life experiences!
