Chalk Talk: School Programs and Initiatives

As the beginning of the school year has started, children and teens may be coming home sharing all the information they’ve learned during these first days. Some “happenings” may be before or after school, within one of the classes or coming up in the future during the school year. Schools share these educational opportunities with students early in order to peak their interest in ways to learn of new activities, expand on those they already like or invite them to try something completely new. Students get excited about new things, especially those their friends may be involved in or those activities that really spark excitement. It may be hard to navigate around which programs are applicable to your child at their age and development, it is worth taking the time to investigate. Not all programs or school initiatives offered at your child’s school are for every student at every grade level. For every age and ability, schools provide many opportunities to choose from or provide access to. During these first days of school, learn what those opportunities may be so your child can continue that excitement through the year.
