Chalk Talk: Importance of Gifted Programs

Students that demonstrate above-average academic abilities need to be challenged in order to fully develop their skills. If not, gifted students run the risk of getting bored in class. Gifted and Talented programs keep learners engaged in education by giving them advanced opportunities for learning. These programs are designed to challenge students according to their ability level, not their age. As a result, gifted programs can represent an excellent opportunity for students to build highly advanced skills. These programs often take the form of testing out of classes, undertaking accelerated coursework, skipping a grade, or attending a specialized program for gifted students. These programs are crucial in ensuring that students are challenged and do not become bored in their studies.
