Chalk Talk: Benefits of Student-Centered Education

There are a wide variety of methods by which students are educated. One of them is the student-centered approach. In this type of learning experience, students work hand-in-hand with their instructor. For example, rather than sitting through a lecture, students work collaboratively and actively with their teacher better understand a subject. Students gain valuable benefits as a result. They have the opportunity to make mistakes which can be a great learning tool. They also have to learn how to work with their peers. Learners develop important communication and collaboration skills through their work with teachers and their peers. Students also learn how to take control of their learning and be more independent. Learning activities also become more interesting because children are in the thick of it and participating actively.
