Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Moorhead District Curriculum
Students are organized into learning communities in order to work more closely with teachers, focusing in on integrating themes across subject areas. Science classes emphasize understanding phenomena, principles and processes. Classes include the physical sciences, life sciences and earth and space. Moorhead Area Public Schools literacy plan stresses writing for different purposes and audiences as well as the process approach to creating written work.
Electives such as industrial technology, journalism, family and consumer science, band, choir and orchestra classes contribute to developing the character of each student. Students write, edit and layout their own online newspaper called ‘Dimensions’. One goal of the curriculum is to have students recognize the correlations between their core academics and the electives, thereby developing a higher order of critical understanding about what they are learning.

- Minnesota Schools Receive Arts Grants - The Central Minnesota Arts Board will give three Minnesota schools over seven thousand dollars in grants. The schools will use the funds to support current arts programming and provide students more materials to work and learn with.
