New Carlisle District and Curriculum

Children in elementary school through high school in New Carlisle are educated within the Tecumseh Local School District. The district is small, with just three elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. However, the size of the district allows students and teachers to develop strong bonds because of small class sizes. This further allows district personnel to help facilitate the growth, development, and intellectual changes that are necessary to prepare students for the rigors of life and work in the 21st century. With support from families, the community, and other stakeholders, students in New Carlisle have all the assistance they need in order to develop into well-educated young adults.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the New Carlisle District Curriculum

Students in New Carlisle also participate in an English language arts curriculum that fosters the development of speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. At the elementary level, students work on acquiring basic knowledge they need in order to read at grade level. Part of this includes developing the ability to identify the key ideas and main details in a text. Once students reach middle school, they begin to investigate aspects of written works. This includes analyzing the interaction between a story’s characters, as well as looking at how different authors drive the action forward in their stories.

At the high school level, students work on becoming proficient researchers. Learners become adept at utilizing various resources to inform their opinions as well. They also learn how to properly reference and incorporate others works. Students also gain the ability to utilize various resources to build support in a persuasive writing.

Keeping Informed: Recent New Carlisle Educational News

  • Education Foundation Activities - The Tecumseh Education Foundation is dedicated to supporting educational programming in the Tecumseh Local School District. The Foundation accepts all kinds of gifts, including money and property, which they distribute to support programs at all five Tecumseh schools.
  • Summer Gym Program Available - Students at Tecumseh High School who wish to participate in physical activities over the summer can register for a summer gym class. The cost of the class is $125 and gives students the chance to participate in a range of sports and games.
  • Accelerated Reader Program at TMS - Students at Tecumseh Middle School can participate in the Accelerated Reader program in order to practice their reading skills. Books for the program are available at the school media center and at the public library. The program is credited with helping students become strong, independent readers.
