Chalk Talk: Mentoring

Mentoring is the idea of a shared relationship between a student and an adult. Through mentoring the two share values, passions, traditions and attitudes in order to help enhance each other’s' lives. Often the mentor can be a kind of role model, support and encourager. Mentors can help students that need academic help as well as those that succeed academically. No matter the economic situation of families involved, self-confidence and aspirations can be built upon even beyond graduation. The benefits that can come from a mentor relationship are more than what are stated. Parents that are interested in finding a mentor for a child should look in the business area that the child is interested in or talk with a guidance counselor for assistance.
