Panama City District and Curriculum

The schools in Panama City follow a rigorous curriculum which has been developed to ensure that there are clear standards for achievement in place at each grade level. The standards consist of the expectations for the skills and content students need to learn to be prepared for the following years. Math and Literacy have a central focus within the curriculum framework for the broad communication, literacy, and problem-solving skills they embody.

We currently cover the following Panama City-area school district: Bay District Schools.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Panama City District Curriculum

In Bay District schools, students start out learning the basics of Math that include operations, place value, word problems, decimals, fractions, multiples, factors, measurement, and graphs. Middle school students move on to basic geometry, proportions, linear equations, probability, and statistics. Upon graduation, high school students will have mastered data analysis, basic trigonometry, scientific notation, advanced problem solving, and basic finances.

The elementary Language Arts curriculum focuses on how to read, how to write, how to understand word meanings, how to speak, how to listen, and how to find information. Middle school students are taught vocabulary, different types of literature, reading comprehension skills, writing processes, penmanship, and research techniques. Chalk Talk: The Importance of Education Beyond the Basics

Almost everyone would agree that education is important. Most of the reasons that come to mind are reading, writing, arithmetic, better jobs, better lives, and the list goes on. But there are other benefits to a good education. Students find role models of the past and present that will help them to become better people. They learn how to work hard and conquer difficult obstacles. Students gain skills for interacting with different types of people. And, if the learning environment is rich, students will come to find that learning is in itself fun. So, an education helps students not only to function but to enjoy life as well.
