Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Park Township District Curriculum

Park Township Schools include various areas of science in their curriculum, including biology, chemistry, physics and ecology. Each of these sciences allow students to look at the world from different perspectives. From the elementary years through high school, each student learns about cycles of life, water, rocks, stars and more. They begin by looking at each object from a general perspective and then they begin to look closer. Sometimes this includes dissection, or the use of microscopes and other times this includes lab or field work.

Geometry is a part of the mathematics curriculum at Park Township Schools. This course concentrates on the math that is involved with shapes and angles. The students begin by learning the basic characteristics of simple shapes like triangles, squares and circles. As the students progress, the shapes and angles become more complex, as does the math surrounding them. The students discover how to find the perimeter, and area of shapes as well as obtuse and right angles. They also learn how to find the diameter and radius of circles.

Chalk Talk: Jobs for High School Students

Showing colleges that you are able to work hard is a great asset on a college application. It helps show a students' work ethic and ability to juggle multiple responsibilities. Of course, it is not always easy to find a job, much less one that will help propel a college education. Today’s teens excel at using technology and may be able to put their skills to use in business settings if internships are available. They might be able to help local organizations or businesses with social media outreach. Students with big dreams may even be able to start mini-businesses if they can find a way to make it work. With the technology that is accessible today, teens have more power to find jobs that truly interest them.
