Chalk Talk: The Student Success Initiative

The Student Success Initiative has been taken on in all districts across the province and offers students academic opportunities that are meant to be exciting and create clear pathways to graduation. Different programs like the High Skills Specialist Major, Cooperative Education, and the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) are a part of this Initiative, which is available to students beginning as early as grade 7 in some districts and available to all students beginning in grade 9. Although these programs are highly popular, for students who want to have a traditional academic experience without entering one of these programs, the core curriculum is designed to provide students a clear path to college and many other post-secondary work and learning opportunities.
