Sanatoga District and Curriculum

Students studying in the Pottsgrove School District are carefully taught with Common Core Standards and state requirements in mind. Students begin in kindergarten by obtaining a solid foundation in the areas of literacy and numbers. With this foundation, they also learn how to interact with their peers and communities, they learn basic science principles, and they begin to get a grasp on technology. In high school, there is also a community service requirement that all students must fulfill.

We currently cover the following Sanatoga-area school district: Pottsgrove School District.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Sanatoga District Curriculum

As students progress through the grade levels, their knowledge and understanding are stretched in Core subjects as well as visual arts, music, dance, theater, technology education, health and safety and so much more. Students take PSSA standardized tests to insure that students are reaching a proficiency standard. Students who are struggling are given extra assistance according to their needs.

In order to insure that high school students graduate with a sufficient background and understanding base, graduates must have completed several requirements, including taking English and social studies, math and science, arts and/or humanities. They must also take a health class as well as Physical Education. Due to the technological advances in our age, Computer Technology class is also required along with several elective credits which students may choose based on their career goals.

Chalk Talk: How to Keep your Children Safe When they Are Home Alone

With many parents working full time these days, sometimes it is necessary for older children to be home alone for a few hours after school. There are, however, many ways that you can work hard to keep them safe. First of all, make sure they are ready to be home alone. They should be at least twelve years old and responsible enough to follow guidelines that you set as well as respond to emergencies should they arise. They will need to be able to recite their address and phone number if 9-1-1 needs to be called and know how to get in contact with you and possibly local neighbors on short notice. You can also teach your child safe and unsafe things to do while at home. For example, it is important that they never disclose their location or that they are alone to others, whether they know them or not. It is also important that your child know not to open the door to unexpected guests, even if it is a friend. These guidelines can help in keeping your child safe when they are home alone.
