Chalk Talk: What Is a 'Strand'?

A strand is a section of a learning objective within a specific subject, the larger learning objective, which is more focused. The learning objectives set forth by the state are broken down into individual goals for the instructors to be able to be more precise in their instructional delivery. A strand would be something like writing within the Language Arts curriculum or geometry in Math. The strands of each learning objective are created to be sure the students learn every aspect of the larger learning goal.
