Chalk Talk: Top Things Teachers Need From Parents

Success for children in school depends on many factors, not the least of which are their teachers and parents. There are many ways though for parents to stay involved, and the involvement does need to work for the parents schedule. But, in order to help teachers have the greatest impact, parents need to be involved in the educational process. Parents should take time each day to read to their children. The books you choose don’t have to be of any particular type or genre, so long as reading is taking place. Also, parents should get to know their child’s teacher. Attending parent-teacher conferences, open houses, and communicating regularly will help build that relationship. Getting involved in school events, the PTA, and other activities also goes a long way to helping your child’s teacher help your child find success. Also, giving children positive messages about their education goes a long way.
