Chalk Talk: Why Are Writing Skills So Important?

Writing skills are the foundation of success in all fields of study. The ability to write well and clearly is important for all text-based fields, such as English and Social Studies, where being able to explain and present an argument are the most important part of learning. However, the sciences and math also require clear writing skills. No scientific breakthrough or innovation would be possible if the scientist who found it wasn’t able to explain clearly what it is, and why it matters. Writing skills are essential in all careers: technical workers need to be able to document problems, advertisers need to be able to explain to clients why they should buy a product, and lawyers need to be able to craft an argument in support of their clients. Writing is key to success, whatever your plans are!
