St. Helena District and Curriculum

In St. Helena Unified District, the entire instructional process is guided by the framework set out in the Common Core for Math and Language Arts, and for all other subject areas by the California Content Standards. The goal of this framework is to clarify the scope of the curriculum, to detail grade-level expectations, to explain the broader thinking strategies developed through each subject, and to establish a measure that assesses these expectations are being met.

Each year, the students are provided with an increasingly complex set of tools and strategies to be able to take on more challenging courses at school. Between kindergarten and grade 8, students become significantly advanced in what they are able to do in algebra or geometry, or in ways of measuring and analyzing data. In Science, students will learn to study phenomenon the way scientists do and learn about basic knowledge and principles of science. By high school, there are a number of more advanced topics that students can pursue and there are a number of cutting-edge occupational programs in engineering, health sciences, or technology that draws upon these skills.

We currently cover the following St. Helena-area school district: St. Helena Unified School District.
