Chalk Talk: Science Learning in the 21st Century

With all the scientific advances of the last decades, science curriculum in each state is challenged to keep up with current news, event, learning and debates. The curriculum mandates the skills and knowledge in each subject that students will master, but also is flexible enough to allow teachers to combine current scientific information into classroom lessons. The curriculum sets an expectation that students be able to understand the interaction between science and society and be able to discuss the changes caused by scientific innovation. This requirement helps to keep daily learning in the science classroom current and for students to have knowledge that will open doors for them in scientific fields if they choose.
